Monsoon Mania! - Trek season

I am looking forward to some more treks planned for this monsoon. It is such a nice experience. In this monsoon I already attended 4 treks and a trip to Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani. The first of this season was to Visapur. It indeed was very tiring and tanning. It was too hot that day. Visapur trek was a long one and it was a steep high. Many people quit after that first trek.

But my spirits were high and I went for the second one to Tikona. This was a complete contrast. The second one was simpler and shorter and cooler.

The third one was to Rajmachi. Yet another different experience! This was more like a nature walk. We started walking from 9 am in the morning and came back at 8pm in the night. It poured heavily during the entire trek. This trek wasn’t a hike but a simple walk. Lavina and I managed to get lost during the ascent. But this was the real experience of monsoon with beautiful natural scenic beauty.

After this I went for a personal outing to Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani with four other friends. That was an altogether different experience.

And then was the fourth trek on last weekend to Korigad. This was also a small one but we also had a very short rock climbing and rappling session.

The best parts about these treks are that TCS organizes them. So in just a minimal 150/- we have the pleasure of enjoying the entire trek. Its like, we have to send nominations to trek coordinators. Every TCS branch in Mumbai has 1-2 trek coordinators (there are around 7 branches). A mail floats in the common mail room giving the details about trek i.e. the difficulty level, pre-requisites, date, and brief description about the place. We then have to send mails on specified date and on specified time to the respective trek-coordinators. Usually we have to send a mail on Monday at 3.pm sharp, giving our boarding details. The first 150 people are chosen for the trek. And believe me; more than 650 entries come every trek!! A lot of trekkers have now become my good friends. So once you have a group it's all the more fun. We board the bus from various locations (around 4 buses every time). Thankfully I stay opposite to one of these locations :D.
We have to report at 4.40 AM and then after checking our shoes, bags, and trek passes we are told to take our seats. bas phir kya hai.. bus shuru hotey hi.. dhammaaal!! non stop songs.. supper masti.. We then take a halt at a food mall. There people buy food if they want and get bio fresh. In the bus we also get food packets. We have to carry aorund 2ltrs of water with us.Usually its 2-3 hours journey by bus to the trek destination.
Once we reach there, generally plantation, nature cleanup drive (non recyclable products) or such stuff is carried out. We are breifed about the same and then everyone starts heading for the trek. If the weather is good then trekking is next to experiencing heaven! As you climb higher, you feel more close to nature. Lush green surroundings and cool breeze..oo la la! You sure get tired and there are times when u feel you need to stop now and cannot go further even a step. But the team spriit keeps u going. We take breaks in between and chit chat and have glucose and other eatables. Its generally 1-2 hours ascent journey. But once at the top no efforts seem futile! We then generally sit for an hour or so and finish our food packets. Group photo session and a breifing about the historical significance of the place is given by the co-ordinators.
And then we start the descent which is much simpler. While coming back the bus journey is all the more fun. We all are in our zhingo mood. hehe.. now thats the term I use for aadivasi mood.. jhingaalaalaa hurr hur..LOL.. its like.. we have formed a group and we recite all the advertisements, rhymes, total tapori songs on top of our voices. And we return , tired and half dead! Throat, skin and energy level all in bad shape!! :D

We usually return by 9-10 pm.
Thats about it!! If you managed to read the entire thing.. then hats off to ur patience :P Khair.. so me looking forward to more treks ..
