Khopoli trip memories..

As always, the Maitree team again took the initiative to make a difference in this world.. And consequently floated the mail of Khopoli trip. The moment the mail hit the mail boxes; there was an outstanding response of our TCSers to be a part of the noble cause. But as decided, 50 entries were considered for the same and an acknowledgement for the same was sent across.

Saturday morning .. every one assembled near the Nortel building by 6.00 AM. The organizers made sure that the people were evenly distributed in two buses and on the way all the instructions about the entire day were chalked out. I loved the theme “Mujhse dosti karoge??”. We were supposed to be the Jai’s of Sholey and the kids, Veeru’s. I was, and so were the others, already too eager to meet the kids. We all settled in the bus and headed for the Victoria school to pick up the kids. Each Veeru was given a school bag and some eatables. So, now that we had able Maitree heading the mission, there was very little scope for any ambiguity. The trip was flawlessly planned out, right from the trip timings to the individual responsibility. Each one of us chose our own Veerus and headed for the journey.
With lovely music floating in the bus, we moved out of Mumbai, our tummies full with anticipation of what was in store for us!! What do you expect when not just 1 pair of Jai-Veeru, but 50 such pairs are put inside the bus.. o yeah! The sounds of “Ye dosti hum nahi chodenge..” echoed through the roads.. It took no time to click! There were these very innocent smiles on each Veeru’s face. The ice between Jai and Veeru broke. They now knew that we all belonged together and were eager to show their talents. Believe me, we all were taken aback by each one’s talent!! They knew almost all the songs of any movie. Name a song and they knew it! Some knew to play flute beautifully. All seemed to be born dancers! Man, I was getting inferiority complex now! Each Veeru had a story to tell ... we all listened to the songs .. and made merry !! Our first stop was at a joint where we all had a nice breakfast of poha, bread sandwich and coffee. All were blissfully happy in each others company.

After that animated breakfast we resumed our journey towards the much awaited river crossing spot. After changing into the comfortable water clothes, everyone rushed near the river. Sun had risen high in the sky, and so had the spirits of Jais and Veerus! It was a short river and a rope had been laid across the entire span. Organizers helped each pair, to cross the river. The feeling that the touch of the water brought on each Veeru’s face was ecstatic! After enjoying the river crossing, kids still could not gasp enough of it. We then headed for Swimming pool. There were two sized pools, one especially for kids. 100 people in the pool, with each one’s spirits at their peaks, playing soccer and ball, singing, swimming.. oo laa laa! It was already quite some time when we realized that our stomachs had stated churning and we all needed some thing to stuff in. Reluctantly, everyone headed towards changing rooms and then proceeded for lunch. Lunch was organized in this cool open space, covered with lots of trees, a temple and a hall in the centre. After having lunch we all assembled in the hall for some masti time!!! We played passing-the-parcel, with the Veerus being more enthusiastic than we Jais. There were some singing and dancing sessions as well. After that euphoric experience, we all settled in the open place and had some snacks. It was followed by people sharing their whole day experiences and the learning’s that we got from the trip. We all had found a true friend in that one day. It was more of an experience for us. The rapturous experience thus ended by bidding the kids good-bye as they boarded the bus. It was a lifetime experience.. “Ye dosti hum nahi chodenge..”

Alibagh trip from first project in TCS..

Saturday October 2nd, 2004

Now as my current project is gonna be released this December, suddenly everyone seem to have awaken to have get togethers…;-) lol.. It started with Shiva( one of our teams from bareli. She started off this trend of giving b’day treat in big hotel eh ;-). Till now it was confined to coldrinks and snacks in our canteen. Khair! So on 28th Sept we all went to Pizza Hut. Had a blast time!! Ordered almost everything that was on menu card..from Potato wedges, mushrooms to Paneer, Indian spicy pizza to all the desserts!! As our project is only of 10 people or so, its fun. Best part is, I always find a driver to go behind with ..lol. I usually go on a two wheeler with any of my teammates:D:DKhair, then we decided to go for a movie( that has not been implemented yet! ) Nevertheless, this Saturday we went to Alibagh. Actually the plan started off with going to Daman. But it somehow didn’t seem feasible to go there for a day! So everybody agreed on to this placeAalibagh. We started in morning 6:30 AM…w ell or shud I say, atleast that was the plan! ;-)I was the first one to reach borivili station, infact I was 10 minutes before time…lol. Then we left in the ever-crowded local towards churchgate. There we took a ferry for Alibagh. Man the ride in ferry was one of the best parts!! It was around 1 and a ½ hr journey. With lovely music and me sitting at the edge of the corner-most seat of the boat. Wow!! Even got scolding from the boat man.. but then who cared!! After the hectic 5 days in the AC cubicle of office, this nature ride was simply breathtaking! I could hear my heartbeats! But then didn’t get enuf time for myself. Few team members had come with their families. I , being the most talkative of the lot, had taken the responsibility of entertaining everyone..lol!Well.. we reached Alibagh around 11 or so. Phir ek major fight hui . Actually we had stopped at a nearby stall for refreshments. By that time , the bus which takes all the ferry passengers till the beach, had left. One of our teammates, got real agitated and there was this huge ego-clashes! Mazaa aaya..lol.. sadist na me?? ! neways.. as my belief goes, ..whatever happens, happens for the best! , we took a private jeep, which was all the more fun. Then once on beach, I didn’t have enuf patience to stay away from the waters. I ran along with Shreyas( o yea.. Shreyas is a 3 yr old kid of one of my colleagues, a real sweetie-pie!) on the beach. Then it was me and him, playing ball, making sand castles, running, inflating balloons, me taking him on my back in waters, laughing away.. and blissfully happy in each others company! Sacchi.. children are the best companions to be with! JAfter that, all the elders( well currently I am placing my self in Shreyas’s category ;-) ) forced us out of water to have lunch. Till then we weren’t fully drenched. Had just tasted the salt of the shore! Lunch was decent enuf too. But I didn’t have much apetitie. After lunch I was back in the company of my colleagues. Myself, Sangeetha, Sudhir and Nagesh had brought spare clothes and so went into waters in no time after lunch. Played volleyball in there. Everyone was tempted to get in the cold water, but then got no-nos from all of them. Now a big drama that I am ;-), I dragged each one inside thru my bahaanas ..:D:DAfter a long time in the waters, around 4 pm all sat down to take rest, then started the photo sessions and leg pulling of each team member. Wow, how I enjoy making people blush...hahaha! But then our entire gang was disappointed, not being able to pull anything out of my mind ..hahah! what an achievement! B-) Another interesting thing was the rifts between Ram( a south Indian fellow) and our Shiva( the typical shudh-hindi bhashi) lol. Shiva doesn’t know much of English and Ram is real poor at hindi. But throughout the trip both tried hard to make something out of each other’s conversations! Sombu! Appa! Hey Bhagwaan ;-)After that we came back to the ferry spot. This time we had an AC tickets. Well the junta was really enthu.. enthu not about enjoying in AC .. but about sleeping away in the comforts of AC. Huh! I managed to sneak in the upper deck( which actually requires special permission, I realized after getting down, as Shiva was not allowed to follow me ;-)) Anyway.. there I sat at the top of the corner-most seat again, with fm playing nice soft songs on my cell. Ooolala..! what a complete peaceful experience!!The night lights of huge buildings, the waves dashing thru’ the boat, the cool breeze.. woooo.. what more cud I ask for!Well.. after that we boarded the train back to Borivili. Even there, it was so much fun playing with Shreyas! So that was all about the trip! I reached home around 10:30 PM and then after refreshing, went with my friend Neel(he is my TCS colleague and stays beside my flat.) to have dinner. Poor thing had his fast and had not eaten nething but khair he waited ;-). Then we went to our usual restaurant had dinner, then strolled around and was back home. Then started the oo—aa—ouch! My back started aching real bad! I just cud not move !! and then followed the other body parts L.. But then, All is well that ends well.!!. Now I am perfectly fine.
